History

The first issue of the Brazilian Journal of Power Electronics was released on June 1996 (vol. 1, n. 1), with the main objective of disseminating the national researches in the field of Power Electronics, not only in the academic circles, but also in the productive/industrial environment. From 1996 to 1998, the Editor in Chief of the Brazilian Journal of Power Electronics was Prof. Hélio Leães Hey (UFSM). In this period, 63 manuscripts were submitted, of which 25 papers were accepted and published (vol. 1, n. 1, 1996 – 10 papers; vol. 2, n. 1, 1997 – 8 papers and vol. 3, n. 1, 1998 – 7 papers), and 29 were rejected.
From 1999 to 2000, the Editor in Chief was Prof. José Antenor Pomilio (UNICAMP). In this period, 20 papers were accepted and published (vol. 4, n. 1, 1999 – 10 papers; vol. 5, n. 1, 2000 – 5 papers; and vol. 5, n. 2, 2000 – 5 papers).

From 2001 to 2002, the Editor in Chief of the Brazilian Journal of Power Electronics was Prof. Domingos Sávio Lyrio Simonetti (UFES). In 2002, a special issue about High Power Factor Rectifiers was published, whose Associate Editor was Prof. Carlos Alberto Canesin (UNESP). From 2001 to 2002, 14 papers were published (vol. 6, n. 1, 2001 – 5 papers and vol. 7, n. 1, 2002 – 9 papers).
From 2003, the Brazilian Journal of Power Electronics started to have two issues per year, to be published always in June and November of each year. From 2003 to 2004, the Editor in Chief was Prof. Carlos Alberto Canesin (UNESP). In 2003, two special issues were published: Electronic Drives and Control of Electrical Machines, whose Associate Editor was Prof. Richard Magdalena Stephan (UFRJ), and Quality and Efficiency in Lighting Systems, whose Associate Editor was Prof. Walter Kaiser (USP). In 2004, a special issue about Audio Engineering was published, whose Associate Editor was Prof. Pedro Francisco Donoso-Garcia (UFMG). From 2003 to 2004, 38 papers were published (vol. 7, n. 1, 2003 – 10 papers; vol. 7, n. 2, 2003 – 10 papers; vol. 8, n. 1, 2004 – 9 papers; and vol. 8, n. 2, 2004 – 9 papers).
Prof. José Antenor Pomilio (UNICAMP) was Editor in Chief again in 2005. In 2005, two special issues were published: Applied Control in Power Electronics, whose Associate Editors were Prof. Humberto Pinheiro (UFSM) and Prof. Marcelo Godoy Simões (Colorado School of Mines), and Applications of Power Electronics in Power Systems, whose Associate Editor was Prof. Edson Watanabe (UFRJ). During this year, 20 papers were published (vol. 9, n. 1, 2005 – 10 papers and vol. 9, n. 2, 2005 – 10 papers).
From 2006, the Brazilian Journal of Power Electronics started to have three issues per year, to be published always in March, July and November of each year. From 2006 to 2007, the Editor in Chief was Prof. Richar Stephan (UFRJ). In this period, 62 papers were published (vol. 10, n. 1, 2006 – 9 papers; vol. 10, n. 2, 2006 – 9 papers; vol. 10, n. 3, 2006 – 12 papers; vol. 11, n. 1, 2007 – 10 papers; vol. 11, n. 2, 2007 – 10 papers; vol. 11, n. 3, 2007 – 12 papers).
Since 2008, the Brazilian Journal of Power Electronics always has four issues per year, to be published in February, May, August and November of each year. From 2008 to 2009, the Editor in Chief was Prof. Fernando Antunes (UFC). In this period, 70 papers were published (vol. 12, n. 1, 2008 – 5 papers; vol. 12, n. 2, 2008 – 10 papers; vol. 12, n. 3, 2008 – 7 papers; vol. 12, n. 4, 2008 – 14 papers; vol. 13, n. 1, 2009 – 6 papers; vol. 13, n. 2, 2009 – 11 papers; vol. 13, n. 3, 2009 – 7 papers; and vol. 13, n. 4, 2009 – 10 papers).
From 2010 to 2011, the Editor in Chief of the Brazilian Journal of Power Electronics was Prof. João Onofre Pereira Pinto (UFMS). In this period, 70 papers were published (vol. 12, n. 1, 2008 – 9 papers; vol. 12, n. 2, 2008 – 9 papers; vol. 12, n. 3, 2008 – 9 papers; vol. 12, n. 4, 2008 – 11 papers; vol. 13, n. 1, 2009 – 11 papers; vol. 13, n. 2, 2009 – 7 papers; vol. 13, n. 3, 2009 – 9 papers; and vol. 13, n. 4, 2009 – 9 papers). In 2011, a special issue about Diagnosis and Fault Tolerant Operation in Power Electronic and Electrical Drives was published.
From 2012 to 2013, the Editor in Chief was Prof. Henrique Antônio Carvalho Braga (UFJF). In this period, 83 papers were published (vol. 17, n. 1, 2012 – 11 papers; vol. 17, n. 2, 2012 – 7 papers; vol. 17, n. 3, 2012 – 9 papers; vol. 17, n. 4, 2012 – 9 papers; vol. 18, n. 1, 2013 – 10 papers; vol. 18, n. 2, 2013 – 12 papers; vol. 18, n. 3, 2013 – 12 papers; and vol. 18, n. 4, 2013 – 13 papers).
From 2014 to 2015, the Editor in Chief of the Brazilian Journal of Power Electronics was Prof. Cassiano Rech (UFSM). In this period, 77 papers were published (vol. 19, n. 1, 2014 – 10 papers; vol. 19, n. 2, 2014 – 8 papers; vol. 19, n. 3, 2014 – 11 papers; vol. 19, n. 4, 2014 – 11 papers; vol. 20, n. 1, 2015 – 12 papers; vol. 20, n. 2, 2015 – 8 papers; vol. 20, n. 3, 2015 – 9 papers; and vol. 20, n. 4, 2015 – 8 papers). In 2014, a special issue about Selected Papers in COBEP 2013 was published, whose Associate Editor was Prof. Mário Lúcio da Silva Martins (UFSM).
From 2016 to 2017, the Editor in Chief was Prof. Marcelo Cabral Cavalcanti (UFPE). In this period, 69 papers were published (vol. 21, n. 1, 2016 – 7 papers; vol. 21, n. 2, 2016 – 7 papers; vol. 21, n. 3, 2016 – 7 papers; vol. 21, n. 4, 2016 – 8 papers; vol. 22, n. 1, 2017 – 10 papers; vol. 22, n. 2, 2017 – 10 papers; vol. 22, n. 3, 2017 – 10 papers; and vol. 22, n. 4, 2017 – 10 papers). In 2016, a special issue about Integration of Alternative Power Sources to Distributed Generation Systems was published, whose Associate Editors were Prof. Leandro Michels (UFSM) and Marcelo Cabral Cavalcanti (UFPE).

From 2018 to 2019, the Editor in Chief was Prof. Marcello Mezaroba (UDESC). In this period, 93 papers were published (vol. 23, n. 1, 2018 – 12 papers; vol. 23, n. 2, 2018 – 11 papers; vol. 23, n. 3, 2018 – 13 papers; vol. 23, n. 4, 2018 – 12 papers; vol. 24, n. 1, 2019 – 12 papers; vol. 24, n. 2, 2019 – 12 papers; vol. 24, n. 3, 2019 – 12 papers; and vol. 24, n. 4, 2019 – 9 papers). During this period the Associate Editors were Prof. Demercil de Souza Oliveira Júnior (UFC), Prof. Marcelo Lobo Heldwein (UFSC), Prof. Seleme Isaac Seleme (UFMG) e Prof. Sergio Augusto Oliveira da Silva (UTFPR).

From 2020 to 2021, the Editor in Chief was Prof.Demercil de Souza Oliveira Júnior (UFC). In this period, 81 papers were published (vol. 25, n. 1, 2020 – 12 papers; vol. 25, n. 2, 2020 – 8 papers; vol. 25, n. 3, 2020 – 12 papers; vol. 25, n. 4, 2020 – 11 papers; vol. 26, n. 1, 2021 – 11 papers; vol. 26, n. 2, 2021 – 8 papers; vol. 26, n. 3, 2021 – 8 papers; and vol. 26, n. 4, 2021 – 8 papers). During this period the Associate Editors were Prof. Heverton Pereira (UFV), Prof. René Pastor Torrico Bascopé (UFC), Prof. Telles Brunelli Lazzarin (UFSC) e Prof. Maurício Beltrão (UTCG).
